Гэллап, Джордж (1901-1984; американский социолог, внес вклад в развитие методологии массовых опросов, первым использовал выборочный метод при изучении политических установок и общественного мнения; в 1933 г. организовал первый опрос общественного мнения по всем штатам накануне выборов, результаты которого совпали с реальным распределением голосов до 1%; в 1935 г. организовал American Institute of Public Opinion и предсказал победу Рузвельта на выборах 1936 г.; в 1948 г. сделал ошибочное предсказание о том, что Г. Дьюи обойдет Г.
